Information about Field Training Exercises (FTX) will be posted here. Below is general information applicable to all FTX travel and participation
A few items of interest:
Travel to your home airport can be charged to HHS card. You may chose to be driven to the airport, you will be able to claim round trip mileage and tolls (with receipt) each way for the vehicle. You may chose to take a taxi. Please compare rates with three vendors as HHS may do this to confirm rates. (no stretch limos please) Any questions on this email me.
We will all be traveling from our respective airports to Atlanta Hartsfield Airport in GA. on 4/5. There we will be picking up 6 mini vans and driving approximately 90 minutes to Anniston Alabama the site of the training. I have reserved the mini vans but will wait for flight information to assign vehicles.
All members will be required to have their NDMS ID card. You will be required to have this with you at all times during your stay. Our ID’s will eliminate the need for them to individually process and clear us. If you have a lanyard it will make it easier to wear the ID.
You are also required to have your HHS issued credit card. There will be a $25 per night room charge put on the card (which you will voucher for). Those individuals that I ask to drive will also have a rental vehicle on the card.
Travel Days will be Mon and Sunday. Tuesday – Saturday will be full training days. You will be provided 3/4 per diem for your travel days and incidentals only for the remaining days.
On the Travel days and during flight you will wear your civilian clothes. On training days you will be required to wear the team uniform khaki pant (beige), team t-shirt or sweatshirt and sturdy black work boots/shoes. BDU top is optional based on weather.
They have asked us to try and pack light so we don’t incur extra baggage weight charges. You will be able to voucher for reasonable baggage charges (with receipt)
Some items you should bring:
Uniforms - BDU issued pants, team t-shirt or sweat shirt, BDU issued Blouse (with FEMA patch removed)
Some comfortable clothes and shoes for after hours
Sleep wear
Bug spray
Hats
Sunglasses
Sun screen
Work gloves
Toilet paper
There will be more information provided as it is received. Thank you again for your participation, I look forward to working with everyone. They have scheduled a variety of training opportunites based team postion. We will be setting up a full Boo (Base of Operations) and repacking on completion. There are several sessions including safety, respiratory fit test, hands on with equipment, and DMIS/JPATS.
We will work on voucher paperwork while we are there. Save receipts and know your mileage to the airport to make the voucher process easier.
